Quarterback calls Evanston home Bears QB Rex Grossman customizes new condo

Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Rex Grossman is famous for how he spends his Sunday afternoons. But have you ever wondered where he hangs out the other six days of the week?

Grossman moved to the Chicagoland area almost a year ago when the Bears signed him as their top draft pick. His contract gave him almost limitless possibilities when deciding where he wanted to live.

After choosing the historic city of Evanston, Grossman was immediately drawn to Chicago Avenue Place, which was designed and built by hometown developer Roszak/ADC. Grossman enjoyed the freedom to play around with Chicago Avenue Place's open floorplans and the ability to change the layout of the unit. He could essentially design his own home with the help of architect Thomas Roszak, president of Roszak/ADC. They started by combining two penthouse units.

"I had an idea of what I wanted and Roszak/ADC recreated that vision," said Grossman. "The customization process is great. I sat down with Tom Roszak with the original drawings and we reconfigured my space the way I wanted it to be."

The 3-bedroom condominium has hardwood floors, GE Monogram stainless steel appliances, crown moldings, granite countertops, an enlarged study with glass doors and his very own steam shower trimmed with limestone. Grossman enlarged the island in the kitchen and designed his master bathroom after a layout he saw in his favorite hotel bathroom. Grossman's home is just the way he always imagined it to be.

While Grossman is quite the local hero, you don't have to be a top draft pick to get top-notch customer service a Roszak/ADC. When it comes to designing customized luxury living spaces, anything is possible.

Each floor plan is open and spacious, with minimal interior walls and columns, which is made possible by the building's concrete and steel frame. But it doesn't stop there - buyers can sit down, from the beginning, with Roszak and configure their space to better suit their personal life style. The company essentially provides an open canvas and the palette of colors, options and amenities to create the perfect space.

"Buyers today are much more sophisticated about their design tastes," said Roszak. "Some know exactly what they want, but we also can hold their hands if they need it."

In addition to flexible floor plans, Roszak/ADC resid can also customize their home as it's being built. With most other developments, buyers traditionally choose amenities and styles from a short list of options like granite counters, cherry wood cabinetry or track lighting. But Roszak/ADC goes one step further with elaborate options of marble, porcelain or limestone, as well as built-in entertainment centers, air jet bathtubs or stainless steel appliances. The company can track down practically any style of cabinet, appliance, flooring or other style point from anywhere in the world - the sky is literally the limit. It's about creating a place that feels like home and having choices when it comes to the finest details.

Similar to Rex Grossman's experience, Dr. Michael Pine and his wife Joan enlisted the guidance of Roszak/ADC to customize their ideal retirement home at Chicago Avenue Place.

For the Pines, the challenge was trying to balance their traditional tastes in furniture and design with the more contemporary look of the space. The first major change took place in the kitchen, where Joan liked the open design but didn't want her guests to see into the kitchen immediately upon entering the home. Tom resolved this problem with a pantry that separates the kitchen from the entry hall and balances privacy with openness. In place of bar stools, he recommended glass cabinet doors where Joan displays her mother's teacup collection.

"If at anytime, during the design process, we didn't know which way to turn or couldn't come up with an idea, Tom always had a creative solution," said Dr. Pine. "We worked through every detail together."

The 15 remaining units at Chicago Avenue Place range in size from 700 square feet to 2,600 square feet and run from $215,000 to $695,000. For more information on Chicago Avenue Place, contact the Roszak/ADC sales center at 847-563-1415 or visit roszakadc.com.
